Le secrétariat du SCAR annonce la parution de la newsletter de novembre 2020.
Introduction from the Executive Director
Welcome to the November edition of the SCAR Newsletter. It’s been an exciting month.
On 5 November we published a news item announcing the approval of our three new flagship Scientific Research Programmes (SRPs) : Integrated Science to Inform Antarctic and Southern Ocean Conservation (Ant-ICON), Instabilities and Thresholds in Antarctica (INSTANT) and Near-term Variability and Prediction of the Antarctic Climate System (AntClimnow). These SRPs are ambitious, international and overarching programmes, designed to address vital scientific questions and we look forward to sharing their work with you in the years to come.
On 18th November the inaugural Polar Pride day was celebrated around the world. SCAR was pleased to support Polar Pride day to ensure a more inclusive future for all.
Also included in this newsletter is a report of the 39th CCAMLR meetings, which were held remotely this year. SCAR was represented by a delegation headed by Dr Susie Grant, Chief Officer of SCAR’s Standing Committee on the Antarctic Treaty System, along with Drs Mary-Anne Lea and Cassandra Brookes.
As always, our newsletter also features a range of news from the SCAR community, such as a report from the Southern Ocean Continuous Plankton recorder, a report from our 2019 SCAR Fellow Mónica Remedios-De León and a range of new publications. We are also delighted to announce that Bedmap3 has been approved as a SCAR Action Group.
Our newsletter includes a wide selection of news from our SCAR and the wider Antarctic community. Please get in touch with us email@example.com if you’d like to share your news or photos with us.
We hope you enjoy this month’s edition and wish you all the best,
SCAR Executive Director
